Uniview’s First Multi-sensor Camera Now Available
IPC8542ER5-DUG Multi-Sensor Camera
Uniview is one of the top surveillance camera manufacturers worldwide. Currently, they are the 4th largest video surveillance equipment manufacturer on the global market. With a large percentage of their revenue re-invested into R&D, Uniview continues to produce innovative video surveillance equipment. Finally, they have come to market with their first multi-sensor camera, the IPC8542ER5-DUG. This is the first product in Uniview’s new ‘OmniView’ series of panoramic cameras.
Specifications
The IPC8542ER5 multi-sensor camera consists of 4x2MP 1/1.8” imagers. This gives an effective resolution of 8MP, with a 180° horizontal field of view. By using the latest image starlight image sensors, the camera can produce a very clear image in super low-light conditions.
This camera also has support for all the latest features, such as 120dB True WDR, Ultra H.265 compression, and IP67 weather resistance. The wide temperature range of this camera (-40°C to 70°C) make it suitable for harsh Canadian winter weather. The multi-sensor camera is also able to intelligently monitor and control its internal temperature, increasing the longevity of the internal chipset.
Image Quality
We were very impressed with the performance of this camera. We tested this camera at the back of a large warehouse building, in order to showcase the wide angle. As you can see from the image below, we are able to see the entire parking lot on one image. The details in the scene are clear and the colours are vivid but not oversaturated.

The most surprising aspect of this camera was the image quality at night. All four sensors are 1/1.8” in size, compared to the typical 1/2.7” found in your typical CCTV camera. In addition, the lens has a large 1.8 f-stop maximum aperture, allowing more light to be captured. This results in a surprising dynamic scene at night, something not common with most other cameras. Take a look at the image below to see the clarity of the image at night.

Other Features
The IPC8542ER5-DUG comes with all the standard smart VCA features built-in, such as intrusion and cross line detection, motion detection, and tampering alarm. The camera also has face detection and people counting functionality.
Because this multi-sensor camera can consume up to 40W of power, it must be powered with the included adapter. The camera also has one 100/1000M SFP port and two 10/100/1000M RJ45 ethernet ports. In addition, the camera is fully compliant with ONVIF profile S and profile G.
Always Forward Thinking
Over the years we’ve been partnered with Uniview, we have seen them continue to innovate and release quality security cameras and other surveillance products. 2019 has been no exception, with the recent release of their wireless NVR (NVR301-04LB-W), 5in1 hybrid recorders, and now their multi-sensor camera. We are looking forward to see which exciting new products Uniview will release in 2020.
